Badenoch is the Populist Choice

Populists were the “Kingmakers” in the 2019 general election – throwing their support behind Boris – in constituencies where the Brexit party was not standing.

With the political coup against Johnson, the Conservative leadership election – has unfortunately shown that in the whole, the Westminster party is completely un-inspiring – and in no way, represents either Populist sentiment or in fact, the majority view of the Conservative party membership.

Even so, one of the five remaining candidates, will be our next Prime Minister.

Penny Mordaunt and Tom Tugendhat can be immediately ruled out.

Mordaunt due to appraisal of her abilities by Lord Frost (a true Brexiteer) who commented “she did not master the detail that was necessary when we were in negotiations,” and her conflicting memory on LGBT policy & Tugendhat – “the Nick Clegg of the Tory wets.”

This left us Badenoch, Sunak and Truss….and as the above scorecard implies, Badenoch is the winner, ahead of Truss….and far ahead of the inflationary ex Chancellor Sunak.

On several issues, Truss – has a vision – but our concern with her candidacy is that – whilst we support with her – supply side economics – her ability (or lack of) to clearly explain the economic blueprint is a worry in so far as, does she believe or is just mimicking.
