February 24th was a black day in Europe with Russian troops supported by artillery, tanks and military aircraft invading independent Ukraine.
As the invading army closes in on the Ukrainian capital Kiev – what is becoming obvious is that President Putin has completely misjudged the sentiment of western European populations – who condemn this unprovoked attack on an independent nation but has correctly judged the response of the United States, Great Britain and especially the European Union – in being full of “dramatic words” but backed up with very “little action”.
Populists who see the communists in Red China – as the gravest threat to our way of lives and to world peace – always wished that Russia could and would be brought into a “mutual understanding” where our economies would be closer linked to enable the eventual political, economic and military isolation of Red China. Unfortunately, Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine – has destroyed that hope.
The defence of Ukraine is now a matter of supreme urgency – demanded not only by Populists but also by the vast majority of “freedom respecting” Europeans – and yet, 24-hours after the invasion – the European Union response – can be summed up by one word “embarrassing”
Led by the Red loving – German chancellor Olaf Scholz and his green bedfellows – all attempts to enact punishing sanctions – expulsion of Russia from the “SWIFT” banking system, sanctions against all Russian banks, travel restrictions on all Russian citizens, complete ban on technology transfers to Russia – and the immediate flow of weapons to the remaining Ukrainian battalions have been blocked by the Red Chancellor.
And Biden – who opposed Operation Desert Storm in 1991, supported the US invasion of Iraq for “weapons of mass destruction”, was Vice President when Russia invaded and seized the Crimea, lifted Nord stream 2 sanctions, led the Afghan debacle in 2021 – is clearly a man out of his depth
As President Zelenskiy of the Ukraine stated “This morning, we are defending our state alone. Like yesterday, the world’s most powerful forces are watching from afar. Did yesterday’s sanctions convince Russia? We hear in our sky and see on our earth this was not enough,”
