Populists were the \u201cKingmakers\u201d in the 2019 general election \u2013 throwing their support behind Boris \u2013 in constituencies where the Brexit party was not standing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the political coup against Johnson, the Conservative leadership election \u2013 has unfortunately shown that in the whole, the Westminster party is completely un-inspiring \u2013 and in no way, represents either Populist sentiment or in fact, the majority view of the Conservative party membership.<\/p>\n

Even so, one of the five remaining candidates, will be our next Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

Penny Mordaunt and Tom Tugendhat can be immediately ruled out.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mordaunt due to appraisal of her abilities by Lord Frost (a true Brexiteer) who commented \u201cshe did not master the detail that was necessary when we were in negotiations,\u201d and her conflicting memory on LGBT policy & Tugendhat \u2013 \u201cthe Nick Clegg of the Tory wets.\u201d<\/p>\n

This left us Badenoch, Sunak and Truss\u2026.and as the above scorecard implies, Badenoch is the winner, ahead of Truss\u2026.and far ahead of the inflationary ex Chancellor Sunak.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On several issues, Truss \u2013 has a vision \u2013 but our concern with her candidacy is that \u2013 whilst we support with her \u2013 supply side economics \u2013 her ability (or lack of) to clearly explain the economic blueprint is a worry in so far as, does she believe or is just mimicking.<\/p>\n

Badenoch \u2013 whilst lacking in government experience \u2013 clearly has an economic vision of increasing defence spending, lowering our tax burden \u2013 being dependent on her ability and desire to create a small state \u2013 where freedom of speech is jealously defended.\u00a0 And for that \u2013 we hope she wins! <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
