Even during a global pandemic – lockdowns, social distancing, mandatory wearing of face masks – we must NOT allow the usual suspects of Reds and Globalists to break Intellectual Property rights owned by the Pharmaceutical companies

We can not allow, short term goals or a desire to make political “grand statements” override rules governing IP rights.

Whilst we Populists – are in no way allies of the pharmaceutical companies – and where we still feel that the delay in Pfizer releasing its ant-Covid vaccine results till after the November US election result – may have been politically motivated – in its support of Biden – political sentiment must come second to advocating what is right.

The bottom line is that during this China flu pandemic – the pharmaceutical companies – with much Western government financial support – produced a vaccine in an extremely short frame of time.  And their single mindedness in the pursuit of this vaccine was in all likelihood driven by two motivations – the employees wish to reduce the death rate of this pandemic (that they themselves were living though) and the companies wish to make significant short and mid-term profits – through both selling the vaccine to individual governments or to receive fees under their IP rights.

The saying necessity is the mother of all inventions – whilst being true on this occasion – was also ably assisted by the word Profit.

And whether we like it or not – this profit – is what is due to the medical companies that have produced vaccines and released full transparent data.

In our view, the IPRs have been important in sharing knowledge, increasing collaboration between companies.   Allowing the creators / inventors to control the partnership agreements in production mode – assists with maintaining high quality vaccine and first-class production facilities.  Presently the bottle neck is not with the access to intellectual property but with poor supply facilities…

Therefore, to see the Red – Globalists calling for an IPR’s waiver – is the road – not to salvation – but the road where during the next crisis – private companies may not respond – so diligently and willingly.

Should we be surprised? – of course not – their agenda is not to achieve sustainable growth – or to look logical at a problem – rather their first instinct is to blame others and to throw money at every problem – especially when it is not theirs.

So, the actions of Biden and his friends is not surprising – just disappointing.   Likewise with the WHO – seemingly supporting any initiative that allows it to camouflage the mistakes it has made in controlling this Red China pandemic.

And the time joining the usual suspects, the Catholic Church.

A church that is sitting on wealth greater than most countries.  According to an analysis by Fairfax Media – solely in the Australian state of Victoria – the Catholic Church was worth more than $9 billion.  They found 1,800 church-owned properties, including churches, presbyteries, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, offices, tennis courts and even mobile phone towers.  And beyond real estate, there was superannuation, telecommunications, Catholic Church Insurance.  And this is a Church that enjoys tax free status in Australia.

Surely if the suffering means so much to the Pope – the Church can release some of its accumulated donations – to help “their flock”

Hopefully – logic and intelligence will overcome emotional knee jerk reactions – and that a leading politician – will say what is right and not for the liberal sound bite.  Whatever we Populists may think of the pharmaceutical companies – doing the right thing – always has to be correct.
